How to become a Civil Servent

To become a civil servant in India, typically through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, you need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria, including being an Indian citizen, having a bachelor's degree, and falling within a specific age range. The UPSC exam involves a three-stage process: a preliminary exam (to shortlist candidates), a main exam (subjective essays), and an interview.

1. Eligibility: Nationality:
i. You must be an Indian citizen.
ii. Age: Generally, you must be between 21 and 32 years old, with relaxations for certain categories (SC, ST, OBC).
iii. Education: A bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognized university is required.

2. UPSC Civil Services Examination:
i. Preliminary Exam: This is a qualifying exam with multiple-choice questions, used to shortlist candidates for the main exam.
ii. Main Exam: This is a written examination with various subjects, requiring candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding through essays and answers to questions.

i. Successful candidates undergo rigorous training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
